Once you have a registered nickname, it is password protected. When you open the chat, NickServ will try to recognise you, if NickServ cannot recognise you it will ask you for your password. When NickServ asks you for your password, it will look like this:

-NickServ- This nickname is registered. Please choose a different nickname, or identify via /msg NickServ identify
|
| -NickServ- You have 30 seconds to identify to your nickname before it is changed. |
When you see this message, you should identify with NickServ. It is very important that you do not type your password in a channel window, where you can see people talking. You should type the identify command into the server window, it will be called “Status” or “FallenSwordIRC”.
| If your password is “fredalicious”, you would identify with this command: | /ns identify fredalicious |
| If your password is “bluebell74″, you would identify with this command: | /ns identify bluebell74 |
When you have used the identify command and NickServ has recognised you, it will send you a message similar to this:
| -NickServ- You are now identified for <yournickname>. |
When you see this message, NickServ recognises you as the owner of this account and will allow you to use the other functions of FallenSwordIRC
